SETUP GUIDE
Film it once, the right way
CaddieInsight turns one phone clip into per-swing numbers. The analysis is only as good as the footage, and good footage takes about a minute to set up. Here is the whole checklist.
Camera setup
- Hip height. Prop or tripod your phone at about hip height, roughly level with the ground.
- Face-on or down-the-line. Both angles work. Pick one and keep it for every session so reports compare cleanly.
- Whole body in frame. Head to feet, from address through the finish.
- Sound on. CaddieInsight finds each strike from the sound of impact, so keep the microphone clear. A ball on a tee or a clean strike off a mat both give it plenty to hear.
- No trimming. Leave the clip alone. Dead time before and after swings is fine — the strike detection ignores it.
- Several swings per clip is fine. Leave a few seconds between balls and each strike becomes its own swing in the report.
- Left- or right-handed. Choose your handedness when you upload; the analysis adjusts, including which direction counts as away from the target.
Around each detected strike, CaddieInsight analyzes from 1.8 seconds before impact to 0.8 seconds after — a normal pre-shot routine and follow-through are all it needs.
What the report contains
KEY-POSITION STRIP
Labeled frames at address, top, impact, and finish for every swing.
CENTERLINE OVERLAY
Your body as captured, in orange, against a corrected position in green. The gap between them is the work.
SLOW MOTION
A smooth quarter-speed clip of each swing — motion-interpolated, not simply stretched.
METRICS TABLE
Backswing and downswing times, tempo ratio against the 3.0:1 benchmark, head sway and hip slide in shoulder widths, plus session mean and standard deviation.
COACHING NOTES
Plain-English notes on what was flagged and why, with the thresholds stated. Nothing vague.
PRACTICE PLAN
Two or three drills per flag, each with an aim, a protocol, a dosage, and a measurable re-film target in the report's own numbers.
Your results are yours
Analyses are private to your account — each account sees only its own history and reports. And a word on honesty: the numbers are automated estimates from a single camera. They are consistent enough to train against, and they are not a substitute for instruction from a teaching professional.
